1 – Monthly organic traffic increased from almost nil in Oct 2024 to 1,517 as of Jan 2025 (3 months of SEO only).
2 – Google not only awarded front page placement to for over 20 keywords in 3 months but also for some of the keywords, our client’s website featured 5 times on the front page!

Competitor Analysis and planning our SEO Game Plan
To conquer the front page, its important to know who is ruling the front page and map out their SEO strategy, their possible keyword universe, understand their backlink profiling etc. The client had stiff competition from other high end landscape design companies who had been on the front page of most search engines for years.
Hence, we had to do more than what we saw the competitors do. We researched to find some loopholes in the SEO of the existing competitors and take advantage of that.
Breaking down the Landscaping service into “specific” service pages to target important keywords
In the physical world, if you have to target different cities you erect different physical billboards in different cities. Think of service pages to be your online billboards that need to be erected/added to your website to target the local audiences in a more specific manner. Hence we broke down the landscape design services into more keyword specific services like “Rooftop and Terrace Garden Design”, “Backyard and Patio Design”, “Townhouse Garden Design”, “Brownstone Garden Design”, “Pergola Design”.
These targeted and keyword oriented service pages were meticulously designed, fully optimized and added to the website to establish to the search engines that our client is the Subject Matter Expert in these areas. Coupled with our manual indexing process, we were able to have Google quickly crawl and index each of these service pages and rank them on the front page!
Image SEO
High end landscape designing industry is a very visual industry. Beautiful real images of the creative work gets the attention of the audiences faster than long form texts written on the website. Hence we were eager to have Google bring our client’s images on the front page in the “Images” Section of the front page. This required that we have to meticulously SEO every single image on our client’s website and follow all the known “Image SEO” rules. Lo and behold, our client’s garden design images got featured multiple times in the images section of Google!
Google My Business (GMB) Optimization
The client’s GMB profile was dormant. We had to revive the same and optimize it smartly. Client worked with us to get Google reviews posted on his GMB profile and we kept the profile buzzing by adding relevant GMB posts. Soon the client’s GMB profile was ranking in the 3-pack section (map section) of the Google front page for most of the keywords that we targeted.
Off-Page SEO/Backlinks
Since our competition was with larger/established New York landscape design companies, we ensured very high quality backlinking/off page SEO for our client to ensure that we can capture and retain the top few positions on the Google front page. This included managing and keeping alive the client’s Pinterest profile, answering Quora questions on behalf of the client, posting blogs and articles on behalf of the client on reputed blogging platforms, posting images on infographic platforms etc.
